The Audio Library panel provides quick access to the selected station’s audio carts while operating the On Air Playlist. It can be used to locate and preview audio, view saved file information, and insert carts into the active playlist.
This panel is primarily a browser; use the full Audio Library Manager screen when cart metadata or audio files need to be edited.
The library displays the cart number, title, artist, audio type, runtime, kill date, and date added. Additional records load automatically as you scroll toward the bottom.
Click one of the headings above the library to sort by:
Cart Number
Title
Artist
Time
An arrow identifies the active sort column and direction. Click the same heading again to reverse the order. Selecting a different heading changes the sort and clears the previous search.
The search box follows the selected sort heading. For example:
Click Cart Number to search by cart number.
Click Title to search by title.
Click Artist to search by artist.
Click Time to search by runtime.
Enter the search value and press Enter. For a runtime search, enter the time in the format shown by the library, such as 03:30.0. Clear the search box and press Enter to return to the full listing.
Use the small Type selector below the grid to limit the results to a particular audio type. Select - to display every type.
Common audio types include:
M — Music
S — Spot or commercial
J — Jingle or ID
L — Liner
P — Promo
A — Automation fill or replacement
N — News
W — Weather
E — Effects
The available library records are always for the currently selected station.
Select an audio-library row.
Click Preview.
The selected cart loads into the Preview Player and begins playing.
Use the Preview Player’s Pause/Play control or progress slider as needed.
Preview audio plays through the browser’s local preview player and does not place the cart on air or change automation. A preview made over a WAN connection may take longer because the station server must prepare and provide the audio file.
If a preview fails, confirm that the cart’s physical audio file still exists and watch the status message for the reported error.
Select an audio-library row.
Click File Info.
The File Info panel displays the cart number, title, artist, and any saved information or notes for that cart.
If no notes were saved, the panel reports that no file information is available. This function does not edit the cart.
Select the playlist row where the new cart should be inserted.
Click Add to Playlist. The button becomes highlighted.
Click the desired cart in the Audio Library.
Wait for the server to confirm and retime the playlist.
Click Add to Playlist again when finished to turn off Add mode.
The cart is inserted immediately above the selected playlist row. Adding it here changes only the active runtime playlist; it does not modify the original Scheduler clock.
The checkboxes in the first library column allow several carts to be inserted together.
Check the desired carts in the order they should be added.
Click Add to Playlist to arm the function.
Click the playlist row above which the carts should be inserted.
Wait for the updated playlist to be returned by the server.
Turn off Add to Playlist when finished.
Checking a box by itself does not add or play anything. It only builds the group that will be inserted when a playlist destination is selected.
When Add Hot Keys is armed in a Hot Key profile:
Select the Hot Key slot that should be assigned.
Click the desired cart in the Audio Library.
Continue assigning other slots as needed.
Click Save Changes in the Hot Keys panel.
The library row’s cart number, title, artist, type, and runtime are copied into the selected Hot Key assignment.
If Add to Game is available:
Select the desired insertion position in the Game Player schedule, if needed.
Click Add to Game. The control becomes highlighted.
Click the desired carts in the Audio Library.
Click Add to Game again when finished.
Selecting a normal library row does not play it on air. Audio is only played by Preview, a Hot Key, or an intentional on-air playback command. Playlist additions are sent to the authoritative APEX Server; wait for the status message and updated playlist before making another change. If an operation fails, the temporary entry is removed and the AAE displays an error without changing the permanent Scheduler clock.
