The Reports screen displays the station’s recorded playback history and operational events. It can be used to confirm when audio aired, review errors and warnings, identify actions performed by users, and create traffic or music-license reports.
Open Reports from the File menu.
Select one or more stations from the Stations list.
In Local Mode, reports can include multiple stations managed by the server.
In Remote Mode, reporting is limited to the currently connected station.
Enter the Start Date and End Date using MM/DD/YYYY.
Optionally enter a word, cart number, title, artist, or other search term in the Search field.
Press Enter after changing a date or entering search text.
Wait for the status message to confirm that the report has loaded.
Reports initially load in pages of up to 1,000 events. Scroll toward the bottom of the report to load additional pages. For a complete export, continue scrolling until the status says that all report events have loaded.
Each row may contain:
Date and Time: When the item played or the event occurred.
Type: The audio type, such as M for Music, S for Spot, or special entries such as Satellite and Game.
Cart Number: The associated library cart.
Title: The audio title or event description.
Artist/Text: Artist information or supporting event text.
Album: Album information when available.
Class: The general log classification.
Event: The recorded action or event name.
Details: Additional information about the playback, command, warning, or error.
Click a row to highlight it for easier reading. Audio types are color-coded, while errors and warnings use their own identifying colors.
Filters change which loaded rows are displayed:
Stations: Includes or excludes individual stations.
User: Filters events by the user or system account that performed the action.
Category:
Audio – Audio playback records.
Events – System and operator actions.
Error – Recorded errors.
Warning – Warning conditions.
All – All categories.
Remote/Local: Filters user actions according to whether they originated locally or through remote access. Server-generated records remain available.
Type: Filters by audio type, Satellite, or Game activity.
Clear: Clears all Type selections. Select the desired types afterward to display them again.
The screen initially emphasizes regular audio playback. Select Events, Error, Warning, Satellite, or Game when those records are needed.
Click one of the headings above the grid to sort by:
Date
Cart Number
Title
Artist/Text
Album
Click the same heading again to reverse the sort direction. The arrow beside the heading indicates ascending or descending order.
Save to File: Downloads the currently displayed and filtered rows as a general CSV report.
Create Spot Export: Creates a Digilink-formatted text export containing displayed Type S and Type C records.
Create BMI Report: Creates a CSV containing the title, artist, and album for displayed Type M performances.
Create SoundExchange Report: Groups displayed Type M performances by cart number and includes the play count, title, artist, album, ISRC, and record-label information.
Download Log: Downloads the original APEX Directory Manager server log. This is separate from the filtered report grid and is primarily used for troubleshooting.
Exports only use rows that are currently loaded and pass the selected filters. Set the correct dates and filters—and scroll until all pages have loaded—before creating a final report.
AAE automatically creates Daily Traffic Logs and Daily Music Logs for every configured station. On the first server check after the date changes—or when AAE starts—the system generates reports for the previous calendar day using actual recorded playback history. This runs in the background and does not require an operator to open the Reports screen. If generation fails, AAE records the error and retries after approximately one minute.
The files are stored beside the AAE Server program in station-specific folders:
Daily Traffic Logs\<Station Name - Serial Number>\YYYY-MM-DD Traffic Log.txt
Daily Music Logs\<Station Name - Serial Number>\YYYY-MM-DD Music Log.csv
The Daily Traffic Log contains played Type S and Type C carts in Digilink traffic-export format, including the cart number, title, runtime, and air time.
The Daily Music Log contains Type M performances in a SoundExchange-style CSV, grouping repeated plays by cart number and including the play count, title, artist, album, ISRC, and record label.
Because these files are based on recorded airplay, they document what AAE logged as having played—not merely what was originally scheduled. Existing daily files are preserved and are not overwritten during later checks.
